"Introducing an exciting 2012 at The Ivory Secret where brides can feel pampered and guided whilst making the all-important decision of selecting their bridal gown.

Exciting new arrivals for 2012 are currently available to view at the boutique from Charlotte Balbier “Candy Kisses” collection and Rainbow Club alongside vintage bespoke jewellery by talented local designer, Kye Tew. There are also some new additions to our Eleanor Rafferty made to measure collection that will be available to view at the boutique very soon!

Charlotte Balbier gowns showcase beautifully cut silhouettes to suit all female forms. Each gown is hand beaded with a key trend of lace featured throughout her collections, perfect for that country garden theme or vintage look.

Our Eleanor Rafferty collection displays silk gowns with subtle pastel hues in both the bridal and bridesmaid made to measure collections. A bespoke service is also available, please come and discuss your ideas with us.

Tabitha goes around the world!!!!

It doesn’t feel like two days ago that I was writing the blog about the fabulous surprise wedding of Alex & Lisa.

Well, since June last year (yes, June!!!!! How time flies) Alex, Lisa and Tabitha have been to many different places and have now been married a fabulous 11 times!!!!!

We had a catch up with them to find out how they are getting on...

Hi Lisa & Alex!! What was your inspiration to marry all around the world?

We had decided to travel around the world to look for somewhere wonderful to live. As we were drawing near to our leave date we decided to look for somewhere to get married while we travelled and blog about it, we had looked at weddings in the UK and nothing really ‘jumped out’ so we wanted to look at unique and unusual weddings and locations. From making that decision the idea grew legs and just turned into this crazy adventure! How better to choose the best place in the world to get married than to have a small ceremony in each place we visit?

You are well into your once-in-a-life-time trip, how many countries/places have you now been married in?
We have had 11 weddings in the 6 months we have been on the road.
The locations are as follows. UK Didsbury (wore Tabitha), CA Quebec (wore Tabitha), USA Michigan, CA Banff (wore Tabitha), CA Nanaimo (Vancouver Island), CA Vancouver airport, USA Hawaii Big Island, USA Seattle (wore Tabitha), USA LA Hollywood, USA Las Vegas, Mexico Mayan Riviera.

What has been your favourite wedding so far & why?
We really struggle to decide on a favourite wedding as they are all unique and our favourite in their own way. We are really going to struggle to choose at the end but at the moment we would say it’s between Didsbury, Nanaimo and Hawaii, all for totally different reasons.

Where has been your favourite destination so far?
We really loved Hawaii’s Big Island, the laid back feeling, the amazing weather and the Island itself is just such a beautiful place.

What has been your most memorable moment so far?

There have been so many…waking up on the top of a mountain in Canada to find it was snowing. It doesn’t sound so unusual but it was July and had been super hot the day before when we climbed the mountain, it was because we were so high up, we were in the dusting of mountain top snow you see from the ground!

Why did you choose our Tabitha gown for your weddings?

I love the vintage lace, the way she fits and moves when I walk. The detail is stunning and catches the light beautifully. One of my favourite features is the neckline. I love that it plunges both front and back and is finished with tiny glass buttons on the back. It was just the perfect dress for me!

What do you love about wearing your Tabitha gown?

I love that when I pull Tabitha on I am immediately a princess again! The dress makes me feel so elegant and beautiful (which is an amazing fete as I am so very unelegant!!). I am always so proud to show the gown off and love to listen to the reactions when people see me wearing it for the first time.

How has Tabitha coped with all these weddings, is she still in one piece?!

Tabitha is known to us as the ‘Marine’ of wedding dresses. I have worn the Tabitha gown for 4 weddings AND and underwater ‘trash the dress’ shoot. She has taken so much and is still in perfect condition. She spends most of her time rolled into a box under our camp bed. When it is wedding day she is hung for maybe half a day and she is ready to go! She has travelled 43,000km with us, been on horseback, through a fish market, and even been for a swim in a cenote full of fish! After the cenote we hung her in the shower and rinsed her thoroughly, let her dry in the Mexican sun and she is as good as new. The only scar she bears is a missing glass button or two! She is packed away ready for her next wedding!

How have you been changing the styling of your wedding outfits, or have you been keeping it quite simple?

As we have such a small budget we have been keeping them simple. Unfortunately it has not been possible to wear Tabitha for all 11 weddings as some called for a more relaxed outfit. I luckily took along a summer dress which has since become my number 2 wedding dress for such occasions.

Do you feel still as fabulous and special each time you wear Tabitha, or is wearing a wedding dress like popping on your favourite jeans now?!

I pull Tabitha on and I am immediately transformed, I feel as excited as I did the first time I wore this amazing dress. The ritual of wearing Tabitha has only become more special as now when Alex and I get ready for a wedding we get ready together and Alex is the one who fastens up the glass buttons on the back of my wedding dress. It is always such a tender moment for us both and great way to settle our wedding nerves.

How did you spend Christmas and New Year, did you get married on either of these occasions??

We were lucky enough to have Alex’s Mum come to Mexico to spend Christmas with us so we took a wedding break. We did try to get something arranged for around that time so Alex’s Mum could be there on the day but it is high season in Mexico so we waited until the New Year.

Where is next on your destination list?
We are currently in Belize and have a wedding coming up here in the next few days and next stop is Guatemala! We are loving travelling through Central America, it is a beautiful place and the people here are so very friendly and are very excited to hear our crazy story!

Wedding 1 - Didsbury secret wedding.
Vintage English wedding theme and mass collaboration from the independent businesses, all a complete surprise to Lisa! Lisa said the highlights were "the community feeling of the whole day and our family and friends being with us to start our incredible journey". They flew out to Canada the next day.

Wedding 2 - Chapelle St Agnes Vinyard, Quebec
"We stumbled upon the amazing European inspired vineyard complete with chapel and heart shaped lake on a wine tour. Highlights…the Québécois Vicar and his amazing service and of course the out of this World icewine produced by the vineyard."

Wedding 3 - Honeymoon Lake in the UP, Michigan USA
"Whilst visiting family they insisted on a wedding out on a boat trip in a pontoon. They packed champagne and a picnic, we found a rock half in Michigan and half Wisconsin in Honeymoon lake and were ‘married’ by the captain, a close family friend. Highlights…the family around us floating in boats or in the water and the tubing afterwards!"

Wedding 4 - Warners stables, Banff.
Wedding on horseback! Highlights…"Alex wearing a cowboy outfit and my first ever time on a horse!"

Wedding 5 - Neck point beach, Nanaimo
"The family of a couple we met travelling arranged us a wedding on the beach with a member of the First Nations Community holding the service. This is very unusual as they do not share their ceremonies with ‘the white man’. Highlights…the ritual and spirituality of the ceremony and meeting the people we now call our second family."

Wedding 6 - YVR airport, Vancouver
"Jaeger Mah was helping the YVR airport celebrate their 80th year by living in the airport for 80 consecutive days and reporting on ‘airport life’. We were following him through his blog and asked if he would hold us a ceremony in the main terminal. He agreed and we had a great time. Jaegers known for his Hawaiian shirts and we were flying to Hawaii so went Hawaii themed!"
Highlights…throwing the bouquet and holding the ceremony in front of the Haida Gwaii, an important Canadian sculpture featured on the Candadian dollar. (we may also be the first people to have a wedding in the main terminal but as it is not a legal ceremony will not be recognised)

Wedding 7 - Hilton Waikoloa, Hawaii Big Island.
A traditional Hawaiian wedding with a dolphin twist. After the ceremony they waded into the ocean lagoon with the dolphins in their wedding clothes and met the dolphins. Reception included drinks and a three course meal at ‘Buddah Point’ at sunset and a beautiful wedding cake. Highlights…"the beautiful traditional service and sending our thoughts and wishes for friends and family back home to the Ocean on Orchids."

Wedding 8 - Pike Place Market, Seattle.
Only the second couple to marry at the market. Traditional style wedding but under a neon sign in the market place. Afterwards we walked the market and had fish thrown for us, flowers gathered for us and then pizza and beers with friends. Highlights…the strangers that had gathered around to watch humming the wedding march for me to walk down the ‘aisle’ and the flower exchange during the service.

Wedding 9 - Vampire Lounge, Hollywood. On Halloween they dressed as vampires to keep in theme with the date, the bar and the wine and all their guests were in fancy dress too. “We had a spiritual blessing after been serenaded by the rock god Marino De Silva. He also played us a spooky, vampish version of the wedding march.”
Highlights…Marino playing, Clockwork couture providing amazing outfits at the last minute and having a make up artist show up to do the make up, the photographers (twin brothers) who were the coolest EVER with their vintage cameras AND having friends there to celebrate.

Wedding 10 - Little White Drive through Chapel, Las Vegas.
“We took a road-trip from LA with some great friends/ photographers (Megan and Coco from Offbeat Bride ) to Vegas and decided the only way we could get married in our camper van was in Vegas. We shared the drivers seat as the vicar leant out of the drive thru window to read us our vows! Highlights…actually having a wedding IN the van and the Irish themed reception with friends (Guinness and steak and ale pie in an irish pub at the casino)”

Wedding 11 - Mayan Riviera, Paamul, Mexico.
Traditional Mayan wedding ceremony performed by 2 Shamen. The sacred ceremony was performed in full Mayan dress and with upmost respect.” Highlights…being blessed with the copal, sending our offerings out to Xchel and the sea and offering thanks to the Cardinal points.”

What a fabulous few days at The White Closet 20 beautiful brides, Lot's of tears (happy one's), laughter, cakes, champagne and fun!.

Eve, Charlotte and Emma

The White Closet and Charlotte Balbier got together to host a 'meet the designer day' that went from 1 day into 3!!! . 20 gorgeous B2B came over the 3 days to meet Charlotte, Emma and Eve at The White Closet and were treated to an hour long of pure Charlotte Balbier indulgence, over 40 Charlotte Balbier gowns to try on, yummy cakes, champagne flowing, goody bags galore and a fun and fabulous time for the bride and their bridal party.
Each bride looked absolutely stunning in their Charlotte Balbier gown that was their 'one', we can't unfortunately show you any of the brides as it's top secret what they chose but we can tell you that Charlotte was teary eyed as well as the brides and bridal party on several occasions!.

Using varying themes and real brides and grooms, the aim was to create a series of shoots that you lovely brides-to-be can use as inspiration for your very own weddings.

The boutique sits in the beautiful conservation area of Richmond Hill, Surrey, and is a short stroll down to the Thames and a short stroll up the hill to Richmond Park.

first is style Meadow a scrumptious taffeta gown in a creamy Ivory hue shade, this gown has a pleated bodice with a full A'line skirt with delicate French lace and beading. The icing on this already divine gown is a matching lace bolero jacket!.

Then we have the sexy Lexi, a silky satin full length gown with a hint of old school Hollywood glamour and a touch of art deco makes this style perfect for any leading lady on the Red carpet or for walking down the aisle!. Lexi is decorated with Diamante and crystal detail that really gives this dress the WOW factor and it's perfectly completed with a halter neck strap and low cut back.

Over the past two months we have worked really hard to create a luxurious and comfortable environment, that will give brides the opportunity to experience dress shopping just the way it should be, a totally memorable experience for all the right reasons!

Our unique 'Debut Lounge' has been designed to offer brides and their chosen guests a totally private and comfortable area within the boutique to try on as many gowns and accessories as their heart desires during their consultation. A 'Pixie' bride shares her special day!

Last week I got a fabulous email from one of our lovely stockists Mrs Jones Bridal Boutique in Newbury, Berkshire.

She was telling us that her best friend had recently got married in the lovely Charlotte Balbier 'Pixie' gown and wondered if we wanted to see the pics...well we just loved them and thought we would share them with you!!

Laura, from Mrs Jones Bridal Boutique told us a little about why she chose 'Pixie':
She wanted something light, easy to wear and a little unique - not too fussy yet with soft detail to fit in with her venue and styling. 'Pixie' was chosen and it could not have been more 'her'. If I had to describe Charlotte in two words, it would be, 'Loveable' and 'Fun!' - and Pixie seemed to fit the bill - playful frivolity!

We decided to take off the cap sleeves and personalise it for her, to make it easier to wear. She loved the belt and the way the lace fell and we teamed it up with a gorgeous Charlotte Balbier vintage silver comb.

The wedding was held at The Olde Bell at Hurley in the Malt House. It's a great venue, with a fabulous rustic charm that was perfect for Charlotte's very British style wedding...full of colour and stunning flowers, with simple yet elegant styling - very much like her!

Charlotte's Story:
We wanted to keep our wedding simple, personal and fun. We both love food, fine wine, cooking and music and enjoying all four with good friends, so we wanted more of a party than a 'wedding'.

We chose the Olde Bell at Hurley as it has a very rustic feel, serves amazing food and wine and we just fell in love with the Malt House - its self contained 'old malt' building which was a fantastic blank canvas to add our personal touches to and large gardens for photos (it even had a vegetable garden which I loved!)

We created the invites ourselves, with a little help from family and friends. We backed each one in off cuts of luxurious home furnishing fabrics which meant each invite was different and added a little bit of interest to set the scene for the day. I wanted to keep the flowers very simple and seasonal - I had built up quite an eclectic mix of glass vases and ceramic milk jugs, all borrowed from family and bought in charity shops, and we filled each one with flowers so the colour and scent was in abundance all day! We used homemade chalk boards for menus and table plans which went perfectly with the venue.

For the dress I wanted something light to wear (and thank goodness I did as it was a fabulous day and very hot!). I'd been drawn to Charlotte Balbier dresses as I really liked her unique style, use of lace and little touches. After trying on a few styles I decided on 'Pixie' as I wanted a dress with lace straps and I just loved the way the lace fell over the train, and the little belt added that something extra! It went so perfectly with the venue and was such a perfect reflection of my style.

I love cooking so I made little jars of chutney and jam as favours which went down well and I called on a few favours for decorations - my Mum made 60 ft of bunting which looked fab hung up along the walled garden! We served slow cooked lamb for the wedding breakfast and each table elected a 'chef' to carve for everyone - great fun - and we broke with tradition in having a 2 tier chocolate ganache torte wedding cake decorated on top with summer berries! Finally a cheese and biscuits platter ensured we certainly didn't go hungry!

The day went so quickly (everyone says that!) but it was the perfect refelection of us both. I am only sad I can't wear my beautiful dress again!

A few months ago our wonderful friend Laura, from Laura Coleman Flowers, approached us with a fantastic idea. She wanted to put together an inspired photoshoot with lots of local businesses...and Charlotte Balbier gowns were at the top of her list!!

Using Sweet Pea, Cupcake, Minnie and Eden from The English Tea Party Collection the inspiration and theme was soon in full swing!

Laura tells us more:

"I absolutely love working on photoshoots.　 It gives you the opportunity to work with a group of talented, like minded people whose creativity can really come to life. 　Era themed shoots are one of my favourites and there was no doubt in my mind that the Charlotte Balbier English Tea Party Collection would provide the most incredibe dresses for what I had in mind.　 I adore the fun and the detailing of the shorter dresses in the collection.　 Charlotte is renowed for her innovative and classic take on the 1950's swing dress, so working with the team, the delightful Cupcake and the playful and pretty Sweet Pea were chosen for inclusion.　 I have a great love of colour and texture.　 As a florist, you want your brides bouquet and flowers to really reflect their style, so being able to style lots of different looks is key.　 Two other dresses were chosen to reflect the elegant 1950's film star element of the era.　　Minnie was chosen for the tea party styling and my favourite one of them all, the beautiful Eden dress was chosen for the Audrey Hepburn look.　 This dress has the most stunning floral applique fabric which I absolutely adore.　 The simplest bouquet of seasonal anenomes was coupled with this design and the two together looked perfect."

The Future of Vintage

Styal Lodge is a new wedding venue in Cheshire and they wanted to do a photoshoot to show off their fantastic location. While chatting with the lovely Jonny Draper, they were throwing ideas around and, knowing Vintage is such a strong trend, they wanted to do something a little different...that’s when the idea of The Future Of Vintage was born.

For the dresses Charlotte Balbier was of course their first port of call...already known for her modern vintage gowns!!

A Wonderful Story...Alex and Lisa's surprise wedding!!

Here at Charlotte Balbier we often get asked strange and interesting questions, but this had to be a new one for us...a bride and groom planning to get married in every country they visit during a fabulous 2 year trip they were planning!

But the groom didn’t want to stop there...he had one last twist up the sleeve of his newly pressed suit...

To surprise the bride with their FIRST wedding...on the actual day of the wedding!!!!

‘My name is Alex and I’m getting married to the girl of my dreams. A girl I’ve been dreaming of marrying for the last 10 years of my life. In fact I’m so excited about marrying her, I wish it could happen again and again. Imagine being able to re-live the best day of your life as many times as you wanted (without getting arrested for polygamy). So that’s exactly what we’re going to do. For the next year and a half we’re going to travel the globe exchanging vows in the most unusual wedding locations we can find. Whether we cut the cake under the canvas of a Berber tent in Morocco, or share our first dance under a remote waterfall in Tahiti, we’re going to blog and share our experience with the world. We’re even planning to have a wedding onboard one of our flights, creating our very own romantic version of the Mile High Club. And with so many weddings, who knows, we might even set a few Guinness World Records along the way!’

Luckily she said YES!!!!

Charlotte first found out about this when Jonny Draper (Our lovely photographer friend) contacted her three weeks before the big day...‘What a wonderful idea and sooooo romantic!’ Charlotte thought. When he asked if we could help, Charlotte didn’t even need to think...we knew she just had to be a Charlotte Balbier bride!!!

The choice was difficult but was narrowed down to Tabitha (left) and Cherry (right)

Lisa, the oh-so-lucky bride-to-be, had already been wedding dress shopping and had found her ‘One’, our very own ‘Tabitha’, so when Lisa was coaxed to The White Closet she was under the impression she was having a fitting. Little did she know that Jonny Draper (photographer), Emma Draper (from Emma Draper Make Up and also works at The White Closet), beautiful bouquets from Didsbury Flower Lounge and gorgeous accessories from Silver Sixpence in her Shoe were all ready and waiting to turn Lisa into a goddess for her surprise!!

Once Lisa was ready (and looking absolutely stunning by-the-way!!) she was escorted over to The Metropolitan were the excited groom and lots of friends and family were all waiting!!

After the wonderful ceremony they celebrated in style! From The Metropolitan everyone moved on to Rhubarb for canapés and drinks.

After all the canapés were gone and all the drink had been drunk it was time to descend onto Pinchjo’s for Pimms and Spanish tapas, as well as alcohol free mint cocktails and pots of strawberries and cream next door at Love To Eat....no one went hungry or thirty!!

To top off this perfect day, everyone went to the final resting place...Frankie’s Fish Bar!!!! Everyone had been looking forward to the cones of fish and chips with lashings of salt and vinegar, enjoyed with a glass of chilled bubbly of course!!!!!

The community spirit and willingness to think outside of the box is a testament to you all and I have never been so proud to be part of such a big team effort to produce something truly original and spectacular!

Hazlewood Bridal Boutique was opened on 2nd February 2011 to start a new exciting venture for Jill and her two daughters Kelly and Gemma. Her dream was to open a boutique that provided a welcoming, professional and friendly environment to make the start of the wedding planning experience exciting, fun and a memorable occasion for the bride to be and her family.

The location was very important, Jill and her daugthers were really lucky to find this lovely modern barn conversion located in Pewsham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire part of the Bowood House Estates. The listed building is surrounded by beautiful countryside and situated in a lovely courtyard. Inside the high ceilings and beams add character to the spacious display areas. There are also allocated parking spaces including a disabled parking space if required.

They have a large range of stunning wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and prom dresses, plus shoes, jewellery, veils, tiaras and even umbrellas and parasols. They also have an excellent seamstress who can do “same day” alterations if necessary.

Their aim is to add to the services that they currently provide to include arranging the bride's floral and cake requirements etc, to complete a full wedding package.

Mrs Jones Bridal Boutique, situated in Weavers Walk, Newbury has been celebrating the Royal Wedding with a fantastic window display centred on that all important question ‘What will Kate wear?’

Owner Laura Jones commented, ‘as Kate’s family live very close to Newbury, we thought it only right to celebrate in style. We have put up our own bunting, suggested a few options for Kate on our mannequins and even created our own Royal Wedding Cake. Customers are enjoying speculating and the window is quite a talking point!’ Laura continues, ‘ The wedding is a happy and momentous occasion for the nation and we are very excited about the build up and look forward to seeing the dress’. Sadly Kate hasn’t visited us for the dress but we are sure she will look absolutely stunning whatever she goes for and I have a feeling it may feature lace!’

Laura will be watching the Royal Wedding on 29th April as the Bridal Boutique will be closed but she will be open again on Saturday 30th with lots of wedding chat, cupcakes and champers to relive it!

The wedding cake was supplied by The Little Thatcham Cake Company and flowers by The Allium Design Company.

Exclusive Charlotte Balbier stockists Martin Charles, of Martin Charles Couture in Oundle, near Peterborough, has designed a fabulous and creative window for the Royal Wedding, creating a dress that’s high on both fashion and patriotism. Martin bought some Union Jack paperchain strips as a fun prop and while messing around with them, popping a pin in here and there, the idea for the dress just sort of happened!!!. The bodice is made of those same paper chain strips over a red and blue base; the skirt is calico over red and blue panels. Martin completed the look with a Bull Dog in the window.... so cute!

A Very Special Award for a Very Special Man...my Grandpop!!!

Alan Wyatt, the company’s president for both Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier (and my grandpop!) was presented with a very special award at the March BBEH show’s top awards ceremony. The ‘outstanding contribution’ to bridal was given to Alan to celebrate and acknowledge his 50 years in the trade!

Wendy Adams speech at the awards:

"I am very proud to be able to present a special contribution award for dedication and commitment to the Bridal Industry.

As a youth they trained as a tailor in high fashion, cutting patterns and designing. Then In 1960 and the start of there bridal empire, opened the LARGEST independent retail shop in the UK, Bride be Lovely . This grew into a chain of several stores throughout the UK that stocked well known names such as Pronovias, Ellis and Ronald Joyce. They even had a holiday with Mr Pronovias himself!!

They quickly turned there attention to manufacturing and Jean Elizabeth was born. Designing own label Wedding gowns and importing them from Asia into the UK. It was his designs that started the heavy beaded revolution, setting the trends and being a market leader throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

When Princess Diana married Prince Charles he had the dress copied and in the shop window before everyone else, which was reported around the world by the media and then again when Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson.

Projects with Jeff Banks and David Emmanuel are just some of the names of high profile designers and celebrity’s he has worked with.

When the first bridal trade association was set up, the Wholesale Bridal Association, he was elected as chairman.

He has been a mentor to fellow bridal peers over the years, and is always at the end of the phone giving help and advice to both retailers and competitors.

Now when he should be retired and putting his feet up he is still working in the business and is a key member being involved in every decision that is made. He works alongside his daughter and grand daughter. 3 generations working side by side.

If you haven’t already guessed when I say he is the President of Amanda Wyatt & Charlotte Balbier you will now know this award for Special Contribution to the Industry goes to the much loved Alan Wyatt."

What a wonderful evening!!! Much fun was had by everyone, and I was so proud to see my grandpop win such a fantastic award

Charlotte Balbier HQ has been buzzing with whispers on the grapevine about who will be designing the Royal Wedding Dress for Kate Middleton this April...

and the name on everyone's lips...
Sarah Burton!!

Sarah Burton was made Creative Director of the British fashion house Alexander McQueen, after the unexpected and tragic death of Lee Alexander McQueen February last year.

Kate Middleton is keeping all the details close to her chest (as I would too!!) and Alexander McQueen is denying that they are making the gown (of course they would!!!)...

"Love, love, love Sarah Burton's work and I have always been a huge Alexander McQueen fan so I was super excited to read that Sarah maybe the one who has designed Kate’s dress. Although I was a little surprised as my money was on Bruce Oldfield!
If Sarah is the chosen one it will be very exciting to see what the gown is like, Sarah Burton is known as a risk taker in her designs. As creative director for Alexander McQueen the shows always have the wow factor (and shock factor!!)... 2011 Oscars...Our favourite red carpet looks!!

It's that time of year again, when our glam icons hit the red carpet for the Oscars. This event is supposed to be all about the winners and the films but over the years it has become one of the biggest Fashion events of the year...Who will be wearing who on the carpet????

This year wasn't a disappointment either...

Charlotte Balbier's favourite from this fabulously star-studded event was......*drum roll please!*.....

Florence Welch (from Florence & the Machine) wore a stunning Valentino Couture. I just love the vintage inspired look with the lace bodice, long sleeves and pleated layers of chiffon. With the cream tones of the gown, natural make up and her auburn hair, she looks truly like an English Rose.

Nicola (Charlotte's assistant) just fell in love with the Elie Saab creation worn by Mila Kunis...

This stunning pin-tucked chiffon with lace panel detailed gown looks just gorgeously glam in this soft lavender shade. I love how the draping chiffon contrasts with the lace....so sexy!!

January 29th and 30th Charlotte Balbier designer weekend at The White Closet in West Didsbury

Charlotte, Nikki, Eve and Emma, saw over 20 brides throughout the weekend. There were so many lovely girls all looking for their 'One' and had the whole team at their sides helping them in their quest.

Kudos – Designer Weekend Success!!!

January 8th and 9th Kudos Bridal Couture Edinburgh hosted a Charlotte Balbier ‘meet the designer’ weekend and it was SOLD OUT event.

The weekend was packed full of exciting treats for the lucky brides-to-be, Mark Cameron Scotlands leading photographer www.markcameronphotography.co.uk was at the Boutique snapping shots of the brides journey finding the ‘one’. After the search was over and the brides had picked their Charlotte Balbier gown it was time to be pampered with a mini manicure and a glass of champagne (well it is thirst work trying on so many beautiful gowns!). Throughout the bridal consultations the champagne was flowing and tasty cupcakes (Pink of course) were served to the bride and her bridal party.

Finally the bridal party were treated to a Rickshaw ride to their next destination that day.... wow what a fabulous day.

The icing on the cupcake for Charlotte was the ‘meet Charlotte hour’ on Saturday evening when past Charlotte Balbier brides came to meet Charlotte and enjoy a glass of fizz and chat to Charlotte about their wedding.

We weren't sure what to expect from our very first Designer Weekend. We knew that with Charlotte herself there to meet our lovely brides-to-be, it was bound to be a great experience for them. And so it proved! Everyone loved the special treatment they received - from the champagne and cupcakes to the free rides in our wedding rickshaw - but the highlight for all was the personal touch that Charlotte brought to their wedding dress selection. By the end of the two days we had lots of very happy new customers - and a team of exhausted Kudos staff! I know that Charlotte particularly enjoyed talking to the brides who had already ordered their dresses, and who came along on Saturday evening especially to meet her (and pick her brains for tips on accessories etc.). It was a great event, and we hope to do the same again next year (please, Charlotte?)

Charlotte says...
It was an amazing weekend, Michelle and Jackie had spent so much time and thought on planning the weekend and it really made it extra special, not only for the brides but for me too. I loved meeting so many new brides and helping them find their dream Charlotte Balbier gown and accessories, each one was stunning and unique in their choices. My highlight was definatley meeting so many Charlotte brides on the Saturday evening, to have a room full of CB brides was overwhelming, I had a few tears and felt so very proud to have so many wonderful and beautiful brides.
To top it all off I got to have a ride through the snow in the Kudos rickshaw, eat cupcakes for breakfast and lunch!!!!

Charlotte's leaves the Kudos team in style...on their very own rickshaw!

Next year??!...watch this space!!!!...how can we top this??!!

We have a confession.... we have been keeping a big secret (from everyone) for weeks now and although we have wanted to share this exciting news with you, we couldn’t until now!!

Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier, aka “The Dynamic Duo”, are now a Terrific Trio! Yes, 2 have become 3 and we would like to introduce you to our new team member. “Who is it?” We hear you cry!! We can reveal that it is none other than Diane Harbridge who joins our team as sales director. After a five year ‘time-out’ from the industry, the hugely-knowledgeable Diane is returning fired with enthusiasm, charged with ideas and carrying an action-packed agenda that will see the dazzling new ranges accelerating in growth.

When the Wyatt-Balbier empire takes on a new top team member, you can guarantee that it will be the result of inspired thinking and strategic planning. The announcement was greeted with applause and admiration throughout the industry and we now want to share it with the world!

Diane comes from over 25 years of experience and was one of the original owners of Aristocrats Chester (a very successful bridal boutique). Diane is most famous for her role at Maggie Sottero, which saw her lead the company to take the UK sales to over £12 million.

Amanda, Charlotte and Diane are very excited for the future and have some fabulous ideas hidden up their uber glamorous sleeves..... watch this space...
